The Horse Sanctuary in Rome & Riding Summer Camp in Abruzzo
Welcome to Cavalieri di Gaia, an association founded in 2011 with the support of dedicated volunteers. We are proud to continue a rich legacy of three generations of riders, nurturing a deep connection with horses and nature. Our sanctuary is located on five hectares within the beautiful Natural Reserve of Ostia, near Rome's historic archaeological park of Ostia Antica. Each summer, we relocate our herd to the Simbruini National Park, where my grandfather established the first ranch, ensuring our horses thrive in their natural environment. Join us this incredible journey as we promote equestrian activities and the preservation of our cherished landscapes.

Where we are & how you can reach
the Horse Sanctuary in Rome
The Horse Sanctuary is in Rome, it's only 15 minutes from the International Airport of Fumincino.
It's easy reach it from the city center of Rome by public transportation: you take the underground, B line, at Piramide train station you switch with the Freccia del Mare - Ostia Lido train and you stop at Ostia Antica station.
The meeting point is 5 minutes walking from the train station of Ostia Antica, in front of the Castle of Giulio || .
It's possible arrange shuttle service with driver from and to your hotel with additional extra cost.

Every summer, from June to October, we leave the Roman coast of Ostia Antica behind to return to our true roots. We move our herd of horses to Abruzzo—the land where my grandfather transformed his passion for horses into a lifelong philosophy. 🌲🐴
This summer, we are thrilled to announce the opening of our new Horse Sanctuary, open year-round in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains National Park. Here, where wild nature still reigns supreme, both horses and riders can find their true balance.
Join us on unforgettable trail rides where you can spot majestic deer, catch a glimpse of golden eagles, or discover the footprints of the Apennine wolf amid ancient beech forests.
How to get there
It's easy reach the ranch in Tagliacozzo, Abruzzo, by car in hour and 15 mintutes from Rome. Drive from A24 to Carsoli. Take the exit toward Tagliacozzo from A24.Take SS 5 quarter Via Tiburtina Valeria/SS5 Quater to Via Roma in Tagliacozzo
